Things will widely remain the same for Knox County voters in the upcoming May primary.
Thursday afternoon, Knox County Clerk David Shelton presented the option to the Election Board to use paper ballots in the May election, as opposed to the typical MicroVote machines.
Shelton says, with the number of voters expected to turn out for the election, paper ballots may be a more simple option. Shelton also added there may also be a monetary benefit to the City of Vincennes.
In the end, the board voted against the use of paper ballots.
Thursday’s Election Board meeting did find a way to save Vincennes some money. Instead employing part time employees to oversee early voting, Shelton, as a Republican, and one of his employees, a Democrat, will oversee those votes. That change will save the city over $3,000
