Duke Energy has made a big donation to the United Way of Knox County.

Thursday, Duke awarded a total of $20,020 to the United Way. Those dollars were raised during a silent auction for Duke employees.

The funds donated by Duke will be matched, thanks to a grant the United Way received from the Lilly Foundation.

Currently, the United Way continues to push their way to this year’s fund raising goal of $325,000.
