Area history buffs will have the chance to retrace the steps of British Lt. Governor Henry Hamilton and his soldiers next weekend.

The 5th Annual Henry Hamilton March will kick off from the Visitor Center at the George Rogers Clark National Park at 1:00 p.m. From there, visitors will carpool to Kimmell Park before hiking the 2 miles back.

The event offers a unique look at the journey to Fort Sackville that challenged the soldiers with uncertain weather conditions, ice-choked rivers, and constant fear of ambush.

During the tour, Chief Ranger Joe Herron will share the story of the British march.

The event is free, but those planning to attend are asked to register. You can do so by calling 812-882-1776, ext. 1204.
