A Daviess County woman is facing charges after police say she harassed someone.

Authorities arrested 38-year-old Rikki Lyford from Washington.

Indiana State Police say in February someone reported harassment.

This comes after police say the victim began receiving spam text messages.

According to a press release….the victim had been targeted by people on social media who where against a referendum for raising taxes to fund projects for Washington Community Schools.

The victim believed one of the people behind this may have been involved.

Police say the investigation led them to Lyford.

They say she created a Google email in the name of the victim.

Police say she used this email to sign the victim up for numerous spam text messages.

According to documents…the victim received around 70 to 100 messages a day.

Two other victims also received messages.

However, police do not know whether Lyford was connected to those incidents.

Authorities arrested Lyford on Monday.

She faces charges of identity deception, counterfeiting and harassment.

She remains in the Daviess County Security Center.
