A man faces 5 counts of Felony Theft in Gibson County after allegedly stealing timber.
Conservation Officers started an investigation last year after learning that 40-year-old Christopher Collins of Evansville had not honored an agreement to pay over a quarter-million dollars for timber he bought over a two year period in Gibson County.
It was also discovered that Collins had operated under several forestry business names.
Back in August, search warrants were executed at his home.
Information and evidence found there led to the discovery of his victims.
He is charged in Gibson County with 5 counts each of Theft and Failure to Pay for Timber as agreed, 2 counts of Check Deception and one count of Corrupt Business Influence.
Police say he committed similar crimes in Posey County and is charged there with 13 Felony counts and 2 Misdemeanors.
He was being held in the Posey County Jail .
