Knox County now has a full time emergency management director.

This comes after the Knox County Council approved an interlocal agreement between the city and county Tuesday night;

However, the agreement didn’t come without some concern.

Some Knox County council-members say they weren’t happy with the amount of time the other governing bodies gave the council to look over the agreement.

Additionally, officials say they’re worried about the dual nature of the position.

Current Knox County EMA director John Streeter works at the Vincennes Fire Department as well.

Council members were concerned about who would be left paying for the position if Streeter stepped down.

Despite the worry, the council approved the interlocal agreement.

This means the position will now be a full time paid position with benefits.

Prior to the decision, Knox County was one of only two counties in the state without a full time EMA director.
