The North Knox girls basketball team was down a star player last night, but that didn’t slow them down at all, as the Warriors beat the Shakamak Lakers 47-28.

Both teams started slow offensively, with no points scored in the first 4 minutes before Warrior Alex McKinley got the ball rolling with a 3-pointer.

North Knox took a 13-5 lead into the second quarter, where the Warriors outscored the Lakers 15-8 giving North Knox a 28-13 halftime lead.

The Warriors kept that same energy in the second half to come away with the victory, their seventh in the last eight games.

Alex McKinley led the Warriors in scoring with 14 points followed by Graycie Poe who scored 12.

North Knox improves to 13-4 on the season and will be back on the court this Saturday, January 8th, for a match-up with county rival South Knox with tipoff set for noon.
