The 5th seeded Vincennes baseball team began their Mid-West Athletic Conference with a back and forth loss against 4th ranked Danville Area Community College 6-3.

Danville struck first with a three-run homer in the first inning.

The Trailblazers tied the game in the third off three straight singles to start the inning, a fielding error, and a sacrifice fly.

In the fourth Danville answered back with three runs of their own bringing us to the final score of 6-3.

Connor VanLannen got the start for VU and gave up six runs on six hits while getting three strikeouts in three and two-thirds innings.

Braedon Nichols replaced VanLannen on the mound, struck out three, and gave up one hit in three third innings.

Ethan Burdette and Dale Coy both had two singles for the Trailblazers, while Kaden Elliot reached base 3-4 times on a walk, hit by pitch, and a fielder’s choice.

VU now falls into the elimination bracket in the tournament and will take the field tonight at 8 pm.
