This isn’t the only good news for the Knox County Health Department.

This month it received two grants from the Indiana Department of Health.

The money totaled more than 190,000 dollars.

Officials say the money will be used to address Elevated Blood Lead Levels and hire more community health workers in both Knox and Daviess Counties.

These new workers will focus on outreach in these counties to reinforce childhood immunization.

Some of the planned programs include the baseball-themed, Play Catch Up, and several events held through the Good Samaritan Mobile Unit.

Knox County Health Officer Dr. Alan Stewart says the new grant is the biggest grant the department has ever received to date.
