For the third week in a row, Knox County is in the severe ranking when it comes to COVID infections.

There were just under 490 cases in the county and 8 people are hospitalized with the virus at Good Samaritan Hospital. Three people are in the intensive care unit.

None of the 8 have been fully vaccinated.

The infection rate is 133 per 10,000 people in the county.

The omicron variant is reportedly the cause of the most of the cases.

The Knox County Health Department has the omicron booster shot available and they also have the bivalent vaccine which the Health Officer recommends as the best way to be protected.
