A new roof is needed at the Knox County Jail.
The jail is currently undergoing an expansion project, however the leaky roof was not part of the work as leaks were not discovered until after the contracts were awarded.
County Maintenance Director Rick Carroll brought two estimates to the County Commissioners on Tuesday.
One was from Yoder Roofing of Washington. A representative of the company was there and explained that they would use a liquid roofing system over the current roof which means no demolition.
The cost estimate was around $210,000.
Another estimate from Midwest Roofing of Evansville was over $400,000.
Talk of a new roof has already come up during budget discussions with the county council in September.
Knox County Commissioner Kellie Streeter said she will go before the County Council next week at their regular meeting to discuss the matter.
