A Sullivan County community will see their water bills double for the next month.

It was 16 years ago when the town’s Clerk-Treasurer retired.  A new clerk was never hired; at some point, the town missed one month of water bills.

First City News partner WTHI in Terre Haute spoke with the Dugger Town Council President Jerry Bedwell who said the town is behind a month on bill collection because of the mistake.

Bedwell told News 10 that to ease the burden, residents will have until June to pay their bills in full…

Bedwell added that Dugger residents would not be charged late fees for the February and March water and sewer bills.
