A local citizen is approaching the Washington Parks and Recreation Board this evening to propose a new disc golf course.

Disc golf has been an activity rising in popularity in the last few years.

Kevin Conley says he only recently picked up the sport but is an avid player.

He says normally he has to drive 30-40 minutes away to find a course to play.

Conley saw a post that the board was looking for public input for some new ideas.

He says having a disc golf course in Washington would help the community with health benefits and getting people outside enjoying the parks.

Conley believes that Eastside Park would be a spot where a 9-hole course could be built.

Right now there is a petition on Change.org for community members to show their interest.

Conley will go before the Washington Parks and Recreation Board this evening at 7 pm at 200 Harned Avenue.
