Authorities confirmed today that a five year old girl was pulled from the Wabash River.
As a result of that investigation a Vincennes woman was arrested
Indiana Conservation Officers report the incident started at 2:40-pm Thursday when 911 dispatchers received reports that a child had been playing in the river at Kimmell Park and was missing.
Multiple agencies responded and after a search that lasted four-and-a-half hours utilizing boats, sonar, and dive teams, the child’s body was recovered by conservation officer divers near the park’s boat ramp at 7:14-pm.
A little over two hours later, 26-year-old Deonna Hollingsworth of Vincennes was booked into the Knox County Jail.
According to jail logs, she’s charged with Neglect of a Dependent by placing a dependent in a dangerous situation and resulting in death.
The investigation is continuing.
