Hospitals across the region are implementing temporary visitor restrictions as influenza A cases increase. The Community Patient Safety Coalition of Southwest Indiana/Kentucky announced the measures to protect vulnerable patients. The coalition includes eight area hospitals, including Good Samaritan.
Good Samaritan’s guidelines limit visitors with flu-like symptoms and require masks in waiting rooms. Visitors under 16 are not permitted, and inpatient units are limited to two visitors at a time. Special exceptions can be made in certain circumstances.
Health officials encourage residents to get vaccinated against flu, RSV, and COVID-19 to help reduce the spread.
