The local Salvation Army is giving thanks to individuals and organizations that helped with their annual Christmas Kettle Campaign.
In a recent interview, Captain Joey Gates of the Salvation Army of Vincennes told us that although the campaign fell short of its goal this year, he was thankful for the involvement of local groups such as the Rotary Club, the Vincennes Police, and the Knox County Sheriff’s Department and others who participated in the event.
Captain Joey says the donations raised will benefit several programs including their food pantry and utility bill assistance.
Gates emphasized the ongoing need for contributions to continue supporting local services.
Meanwhile, the Salvation Army is looking ahead to summer.
The organization reminds the public they offer an affordable summer camp program for kids across Indiana. The camp, located at a 700-acre facility in Bedford, provides a variety of activities for different age groups, including music, kids’ camps, and teen camps. Captain Joey noted that the camp offers an opportunity for children to make new friends from across the state while enjoying outdoor activities. The program is cost-effective, with weekly fees around $20-25.
Gates encouraged families to visit the Salvation Army’s Facebook page for more information.
