Knox County Clerk David Shelton has launched his campaign for Indiana Secretary of State. In a press release, Shelton, a Republican, says he’s bringing election experience, innovation, and bipartisan credibility to the 2026 race.
He was first elected clerk in 2019, Shelton has served as County GOP Chair since 2022. He says he has led statewide reforms in cybersecurity, vote centers, and voter accessibility. He previously ran in for Secretary of State in 2022.
Shelton says his private-sector background—including running an election equipment company—gives him practical insight.
The nomination will be decided at the 2026 Indiana Republican State Convention.
