A Sullivan County jury has found William Grimes guilty of the 2012 murder of 85-year-old Lowell Badger, who was killed in his rural Sullivan County home.

The verdict follows years of investigation by Indiana State Police Detectives BJ Patterson, Brad Miller, and Nick Hatfield, along with retired FBI Special Agent Joann Dowell. Police say their persistent work, in collaboration with the Sullivan County Prosecutor’s Office and the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department, helped build a strong case against Grimes.

The prosecution team included Sullivan County Prosecutor Ann Mischler and Special Prosecutors Rob Roberts, Dave Powell, and Courtney Lawrence. Roberts served as lead prosecutor.

State Police say the case would not have been possible without the coordination and commitment shown by all law enforcement agencies and legal teams involved.

Grimes is scheduled to be sentenced at 1 p.m. on June 13.
