Families with deep roots in Knox County are receiving an outpouring of support and prayers from across the region as they mourn the loss of 16-year-old Cooper Schuckman of Washington.
Schuckman died Saturday night in a tragic incident while working on a truck with a friend. According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, the Ford F-350 was elevated using two air jacks placed on blocks and a floor jack when the vehicle shifted and fell, pinning him underneath.
Emergency crews responded to the home on County Road 300 North around 9:11 p.m. A forklift was used to lift the vehicle, but Schuckman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The tragedy has touched many in both Daviess and Knox counties, where the families have strong connections. Social media has been filled with condolences and tributes, remembering Cooper as a kind, hardworking young man and a proud member of the Washington High School basketball team.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
