On Monday, Knox County deputies responded to a rollover crash on South Decker Road near Essex Road just before 10 a.m.

When deputies arrived, they found a 2007 blue Chrysler PT Cruiser on its side in a nearby cornfield. The driver, identified as 33-year-old Karl Wayne Horton, was trapped inside. Deputies cut away the top of the vehicle to remove him. He appeared uninjured but showed signs of impairment and refused a chemical test at the scene.

A search warrant was obtained, and deputies also discovered a clear plastic bag containing a white substance above the driver’s sun visor. It later tested positive for methamphetamine.

After being cleared at the hospital, Horton was booked into the Knox County Jail for operating while intoxicated with endangerment, OWI refusal, and possession of methamphetamine.
