The Vincennes Community School Board met Monday morning and approved several items.
Board members gave final approval to the Knox County Special Education Cooperative Joint Services Budget for the 2025-2026 school year. The total budget is about $1.88 million, with Vincennes Community Schools covering just over $1 million. The increase from last year is largely due to higher staffing costs, including wage adjustments for instructional assistants.
The board also approved a $906,000 construction bid from Wolfe Construction for phase one projects at Lincoln High School and other facilities. The work includes new doors and hardware at LHS, railing upgrades at Alice Arena, and facade improvements at the Washington Learning Academy.
Among personnel actions, the board approved the transfer of Shelby McCormick to serve as the new Dean of Students at Clark Middle School.
In addition, the board approved new admission and pass prices for Clark Middle School athletic events. Starting next school year, adult admission will increase from $4 to $5, while students and children high school age and under will now be admitted free. Family passes will rise from $60 to $100 for four passes, and single passes will go from $30 to $50.
