The Southern Indiana Steel Guitar Show returns to Vincennes University this Saturday, July 26. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Shircliff Humanities Theatre and features a full lineup of national and regional steel guitar talent.

The show supports scholarships for VU’s audio recording program and includes traditional, Cajun, Texas swing, and modern steel guitar styles. Organizer Virgil Franklin, who is the Program Director for the VU Audio Recording Program say tickets are available at a reasonable price.   “They’re $20 and can buy them online at the Alumni Association’s website . It’s a small theater, only 300 seats are available.” he said.

Musicians that are scheduled to be there are Dow Smith, who is a member of the Texas Swing Hall of Fame, Mike Sweeney, a well known Nashville staple who played with Ray Price.  Also appearing will be Dan Burnham.   Several local and regional musicians will also take the stage, including Dennis Stroughmat, Paul Carie, Tony Rothrock, and Bud Hall.

The headliner is  Mel Tillis Junior & The Memory Makers.  Franklin says if you like Mel Tillis you’ll like Mel Tillis Junior.
