Two regional summer festivals hit milestones this year.

The Odon Old Settlers Days in Daviess County is known as one of the oldest continuous festivals in the state. It marks its 140th event this year. Meanwhile, the Jasper Strassenfest in Dubois County is marking 40 years in 2025.

Both festivals began in their respective communities earlier this week and continue through the weekend.

The Old Settlers Days offers a traditional small-town celebration featuring a parade, floral hall exhibits, free inflatables for kids, a car show, baby show, live music, and community bingo. Evening entertainment on the bandstand and introductions of honored guests like the grand marshal are also festival staples.

The Strassenfest celebrates Jasper’s German heritage with polka music, authentic German food and beer, carnival rides, a large parade, contests, and cultural displays. A fireworks show caps off the weekend festivities.
