A November trial date has been set for Dylan A. Smith, the Vincennes man charged with murder in the shooting death of Taylor Hendershot this week.
The 32-year-old Smith appeared in Knox Circuit Court Wednesday for an initial hearing before Judge Monica Gilmore. He remains in the custody of the Knox County Sheriff’s Department and is being held without bond. The court found him indigent and appointed the state’s public defender council to represent him.
Smith is charged with murder and faces an enhanced penalty due to the alleged use of a firearm during the crime. The shooting happened Tuesday outside Cardinal Liquors on North Sixth Street in Vincennes. Indications are that the crime was domestic in nature.
A jury trial is scheduled for November 4th.
