Vincennes University President Chuck Johnson says a new strategic plan will guide the school’s direction for the next five years.

Speaking at VU’s annual opening meeting, Johnson said the plan will focus on six strategic priorities: enrollment growth, student success, revenue diversification, employee development, operational excellence, and increasing the university’s visibility.

He noted that only about half of Indiana’s recent high school graduates are going directly to college — the lowest rate in more than a decade. Johnson said reaching more adult and nontraditional learners will be key to future growth, along with building on recent gains in on-time graduation rates.

The new plan will begin in 2026 and is designed to build on current successes while preparing the university to adapt to changes in higher education.
