Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry (FHFH) received a $3,000 grant from the UDWI REMC Community Fund to provide meat to local food pantries.
The Greene County Chapter partners with hunters and farmers to donate deer and livestock, which are processed into one-pound packages of ground meat for nine pantries. “The donation of just one deer can provide over 200 servings of high-quality meat,” said coordinator Brady Miller.
Since its start, the chapter has provided over 43,000 pounds of meat—about 172,000 meals. Hunters and farmers can donate through Lighthouse Custom Meats, Bloomfield Processing, or by contacting Miller. More information is available at feedingthehungry.org and udwiremc.com.
