The Indiana Department of Transportation is beginning two separate road projects in southwestern Indiana next week that will affect traffic in both Sullivan and Gibson counties.
On Monday, September 8, INDOT crews will start daily lane closures on U.S. 41 near Carlisle. The restrictions will be in place during daylight hours as workers complete bridge maintenance over Busseron Creek. The lane closures are expected to continue through early November, and drivers are advised to allow extra travel time and use caution while passing through the area.
That same day, State Road 64 will close between Jefferson Street in Princeton and First Street in Francisco. The closure is needed for a chip-and-seal maintenance project and is expected to last about one week, weather permitting. An official detour will direct traffic along U.S. 41, State Road 168, and State Road 48. Local traffic will still have access.
INDOT is reminding motorists to reduce their speed, stay alert, and use extra caution in all work zones.
