Jasper Police arrested a man Thursday after reports of him trying to force his way into an apartment at the Dewey Street Lofts.

Officers say 31-year-old Matthew Lee Hess had been hitting and kicking a woman’s door for nearly an hour, causing significant damage and nearly getting inside. Police found him still on the property and took him into custody without incident.

Hess is facing charges that include attempted residential entry, intimidation, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia. He was taken to the Dubois County Security Center.
