The United Way of Knox County will hold its annual Days of Caring this Thursday and Friday. The two-day event brings together volunteers from businesses, schools, and civic groups to support local nonprofits, schools, and neighborhoods.

Director Scott Charleston says this year’s efforts include organizing at the Salvation Army, landscaping at the Betty J. McCormick Senior Center, and cleaning and walking dogs at the animal shelter, along with several other projects around the community.

He notes the impact goes beyond the event itself. By handling large jobs such as cleaning, organizing, and repairs, volunteers ease the workload on nonprofits and allow them to focus on their mission of helping Knox County residents. Many participants also continue to support these groups throughout the year.

In addition to service projects, volunteers will be collecting non-perishable food donations at grocery and general stores across the county during the event.
