The Vincennes Redevelopment Commission has taken another step toward a housing rehabilitation initiative by approving the hiring of a program director.

The contracted position will manage efforts to take control of problem properties in targeted TIF districts, rehabilitate them, and prepare them for resale. The goal is to strengthen surrounding neighborhoods and create conditions that encourage further private investment.

RDC member Steve Blinn explained the scope of the work saying, “They’re gonna be working with the RDC, the city inspector, the city engineer. They’ll be developing and acquiring and rehabilitating the properties and getting them ready for sale.”

The director will serve under a one-year professional services agreement, with interviews for the position expected in the coming weeks. Three applicants have already expressed interest.
