The Indiana State Police are investigating a shooting near Shelburn in northern Sullivan County that left two people dead early Monday morning.

Just after 4:00 a.m.  Sullivan County deputies responded to a 911 call and attempted to contact individuals inside but received no response. When officers entered, they discovered two deceased individuals.

Investigators say 81-year-old Keith Sheffler was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Also discovered was 75-year-old Judy Sheffler, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities stress the case remains an active and ongoing investigation.
