Governor Mike Braun says Indiana’s new economic development strategy is producing results.

At the Indiana Economic Development Corporation board meeting, this week Braun reported average wages for incentivized jobs have climbed 10 percent, from $37 to $41 an hour — an increase of more than $8,000 a year. At the same time, the average cost per job to taxpayers has dropped from $55,000 to $16,000.

Braun says the focus is on raising wages, creating jobs, and building both Main Street businesses and major employers. The IEDC board also released results of a forensic audit, with what officials say is leading to new policies for greater transparency and accountability in how taxpayer dollars are spent.
