The Pike County Prosecutor’s office is commenting on a recent child solicitation sting that netted four arrests.
First City News reported the story earlier this week, noting that Petersburg Police launched the investigation using decoy social media accounts that appeared to belong to children. The operation produced enough evidence for charges against four men.
44-year-old Jason Loveless of Petersburg was charged with Level 4 Felony Child Solicitation, an enhanced charge when travel is involved. 38-year-old Andrew Brothers of Greencastle and 30-year-old Kyle Nelson of Princeton were each charged with Level 5 Felony Child Solicitation. 34-year-old Logan McKinney of Huntingburg was charged with Class A Misdemeanor Inappropriate Communications with a Child.
The Pike County Prosecutor’s office says they were honored to assist Petersburg Police in the operation. A statement read, “We will always do our part to support our law enforcement partners in their efforts to protect our community, particularly when those efforts are made for the protection of our community’s children.”
The office also noted that probable cause is a finding necessary to move forward with charges, but judgment must be withheld until guilt is proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
