The Old Town Players Theater in Vincennes is preparing to open its fall production with Stephen King’s Misery. The stage adaptation, written by William Goldman, will run October 17–19 and 24–26. Duke Energy is sponsoring the show.

Director Tim Fox said the adaptation pulls from both the novel and the movie, while also allowing the cast and crew to add their own interpretations. He noted audiences can expect many of the familiar scenes, including the tense moments between the bedridden author and his unstable caretaker.

The cast features Vicki Puffer as Annie, Justin Dawson as author Paul Sheldon, and Hunter Sampson as the sheriff.

The theater is billing Misery as a suspenseful shift from its recent teen-centered musicals, offering audiences a darker and more intense experience this Halloween season.
