Charlie’s Candies in Vincennes is celebrating 70 years of handcrafted sweets in Vincennes with a community event running through the end of the year.
In a press release, local candy shop says it was founded in 1952 by Charles and Lorethea Hamke, who turned a simple act of kindness—sharing homemade caramel corn—into a business that now ships across 49 states.
To mark the milestone, the shop is hosting giveaways and customer contests as part of its anniversary celebration.
Co-owner Lorrinda Ellermann says the event honors the Hamkes’ legacy and the generations of loyal customers who’ve supported the business.
The anniversary celebration continues through December 31st at Charlie’s Candies on North Second Street in Vincennes.
