Washington Police say two juveniles are in custody following a high-speed pursuit early Wednesday morning.
Officers on third shift stopped to check a vehicle around 4:20 a.m. near East National Highway and State Street. They reported the vehicle had apparently struck something, and the occupants were trying to fix it.
When officers approached, the vehicle fled east on National Highway—then onto U.S. 50, driving east in the westbound lane toward oncoming traffic.
A Washington Police sergeant executed a Precision Immobilization Technique, or PIT maneuver—a technique that uses a controlled bump to spin a fleeing vehicle and bring it to a safe stop. The maneuver worked, and both occupants were taken into custody without injury.
Police say both individuals were juveniles and the vehicle was reported stolen.
The department reminds residents to lock their vehicles and avoid leaving valuables or keys inside.
