Vincennes University is adding men’s and women’s wrestling to its athletic lineup beginning in the 2026–27 school year.
Athletic Director John Meeks says the new programs will expand opportunities for students and build on VU’s culture of growth and community.
University officials note that wrestling is among the fastest-growing sports in Indiana and across the Midwest, especially for girls, prompting the IHSAA to officially sanction the sport this year.
VU President Chuck Johnson says the addition reflects a strategic investment aimed at boosting recruitment, retention, and student success. The university has also received a grant from the NJCAA Foundation to help launch the programs.
