A Gibson County homeowner died following a mobile home fire Monday afternoon in Patoka.
Fire crews with the White River Fire Territory were first paged just before 5 p.m. but received no audio message. A second alert moments later reported a residential fire with possible entrapment only two blocks from the Patoka Station.
Six firefighters responded within minutes, finding heavy flames coming from the front of the home. Crews entered the structure to search for anyone inside and soon located the deceased homeowner.
In all, 17 firefighters took part in the response, with assistance from the Hazleton Station.
The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause, along with Patoka Police, the Gibson County Coroner, and the Sheriff’s Office.
