Conservation Officers have released details on a fatal crash in Pike County that occurred this past weekend.
Authorities say 50-year-old John G. Goodall of Oakland City died Sunday evening when the off-road vehicle he was operating overturned on private property near Old State Road 64 and State Road 257 in southeast Pike County.
Investigators say Goodall was leaving his deer hunting area to pick up his spouse, who was hunting nearby, when the ORV flipped and trapped him underneath. His spouse heard the accident, went to help, and called 911. Despite life-saving efforts, Goodall was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
Conservation Officers remind all off-road vehicle users to wear helmets and protective gear and to use safety restraints at all times.
