Fire crews in Daviess County responded Wednesday evening to a combine fire north of Washington.

According to the Washington Township Fire Department, mutual aid was requested from the Plainville Fire Department to help contain the blaze. Neighboring farmers also joined the effort by using tractors to disc around the fire and stop it from spreading.

Officials say several acres of standing corn were lost in the incident. No injuries were reported.
