A Vincennes man has been arrested in Jasper for auto theft.

Police say 24-year-old Connor J. Smith was taken into custody Wednesday after officers discovered he was driving a stolen 2024 Toyota Tundra.

Jasper Police were first contacted about a suspicious person at a local auto dealership. They later located the vehicle traveling south on U.S. 231 with a false license plate and stopped it at the Northside Dollar General in Huntingburg.

Investigators determined the truck had been reported stolen from the Louisville area in June.

Smith is charged with Level 6 felony theft of a motor vehicle and was booked into the Dubois County Security Center.
