Governor Mike Braun has called a special legislative session for Monday, November 3, to address congressional redistricting and state tax code alignment with new federal laws.

In a proclamation issued today, Braun said the session aims to “protect Hoosiers from efforts in other states that seek to diminish their voice in Washington” and to ensure fair congressional representation.

Lawmakers will also take up changes needed to bring Indiana’s tax code in line with the federal “One Big Beautiful Bill Act.” Those updates are needed to prevent confusion for taxpayers and accountants during the 2026 filing season.

State officials say aligning the tax codes will help maintain the Indiana Department of Revenue’s record of efficient management while avoiding amended returns and filing delays.
