The Indiana State Police are mourning the loss of K-9 Barker, a loyal partner to Trooper Jacob Lauer.
Barker was found deceased Saturday, October 25, due to unforeseen medical reasons. Authorities say no foul play is suspected.
Barker served with the Jasper District of the Indiana State Police as a dual-purpose K-9, trained in patrol work and narcotics detection. He assisted in numerous investigations, drug seizures, suspect apprehensions, and community demonstrations.
Lieutenant Brock Werne said Barker was more than a working partner — he was family.
The Indiana State Police say Barker’s service and sacrifice will not be forgotten.
