Knox County Health Officer Dr. Alan Stewart commended the City of Vincennes for its strong partnership and ongoing commitment to improving community health.
Speaking before the Vincennes City Council, Stewart said city initiatives such as the Complete Streets program, expanded curb and sidewalk access, and maintaining EMS funding have all contributed to better public health outcomes. He also pointed to the city’s trolley system, large-item and tire collection programs, and neighborhood beautification efforts as examples of how local government supports wellness and safety.
“It’s all about partnerships,” Stewart said. “City government, county government, Good Samaritan Hospital, and our schools—all working together—can make this a healthier place, help people live longer, and create a community that people truly enjoy living in—a pretty community and a healthy community.”
Stewart thanked city officials for their cooperation and noted that continued collaboration between the city and the county health department is key to building a stronger, healthier Vincennes.
