The United Way of Knox County’s Great Bowls of Fire Chili Cook-Off is back this Saturday at Patrick Henry Square in downtown Vincennes.

The event runs from 1 to 5 p.m. and offers unlimited chili tastings, a beverage garden, a petting zoo, live music from Blazer 91.1, and a Ferris wheel that’s new this year. Admission is five dollars, with proceeds supporting United Way’s partner agencies that serve Knox County residents.

United Way Executive Director Scott Charleston says the cook-off is both a fundraiser and a way to bring people together. “So ultimately, what this does is the United Way, the chili cook off is going to help support our 30 local agencies that you all know and hear about and love,” he said. ” It’s going to them and to help the community here in Knox County. Helping people in need. Because really that’s what the United Way is all about, is being united.”

Charleston says the event has grown each year and continues to be one of United Way’s most popular fundraisers. He encourages everyone to come downtown, enjoy the food and entertainment, and support local programs that make a difference in the community.
