The YMCA of Vincennes is collecting food and monetary donations to help local families in need this Thanksgiving.

The donation drive runs now through November 22 at the YMCA on College Avenue. Community members are encouraged to drop off canned goods and other nonperishable items. Suggested donations include canned vegetables and fruits, instant potatoes, stuffing, canned meats, and dessert mixes. Items must be unopened and not expired.

Monetary contributions are also being accepted, with all proceeds going toward providing holiday meals to families in the area.

The YMCA says the goal is to make sure every family has the opportunity to enjoy a warm Thanksgiving dinner. As an added incentive, new YMCA members who contribute canned goods during the drive will have their joining fee waived.

Donations can be delivered to the YMCA facility at 2010 College Avenue in Vincennes.
