The Pike County Prosecutor’s Office has released an update on several recent arrests and criminal cases under review.
In Winslow, 58-year-old Rodney McDowell was arrested November 10 and charged with Child Solicitation. Investigators say he admitted to sending sexual messages to someone he believed was a 14-year-old girl. Prosecutors say 30-year-old Jazmine Gary, who reported the case, later admitted she had been posing as the teen to obtain money. She’s charged with Obstruction of Justice.
In a separate case, a November 13 traffic stop led to multiple felony charges for 57-year-old Brian Like of Petersburg. Deputies say they recovered marijuana from his vehicle, along with firearms he is prohibited from possessing because of a prior conviction. A later search of his property turned up suspected methamphetamine, syringes, and a stolen handgun.
And in Winslow, 40-year-old Rodney Smitson was arrested November 16 after deputies responded to a domestic battery complaint. Investigators say the victim showed bruises, reported threats involving a firearm, and provided Ring camera footage. Smitson is charged with intimidation, domestic battery, and other offenses.
