Strong winds and colder temperatures returned to the region Monday, with a Wind Advisory in effect through 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
The National Weather Service says west winds of 15 to 25 miles per hour are expected throughout the day, with gusts reaching up to 45 miles per hour. The strong winds could blow around unsecured outdoor objects and make travel difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles.
The windy conditions follow fast-moving storms that moved through the area Sunday evening, causing damage across multiple counties and power outages.
Several power outages continued today.
As colder air moved into the region Sunday night, severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado warnings were issued in several areas.
Linton appeared to experience the most significant damage. A blown transformer caused power outages, and a portion of the Sportsman’s Pub in downtown Linton collapsed.
In Gibson County, a broken power pole along West State Road 68 forced the roadway to shut down temporarily.
Storm impacts were also reported in Daviess County, where a tree fell across the roadway at State Road 57 and 700 North. Power lines were reported down near 100 West and 800 North.
In Pike County, storm damage affected outdoor kennels at the county animal shelter. Officials requested emergency fosters and adopters to temporarily house animals following the damage.
Weather conditions on Monday are expected to remain mostly cloudy, with high temperatures near 30 degrees. The Wind Advisory remains in effect until 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
