New Year Babies Born in Vincennes, Washington & Newburgh

Recapping New Year’s baby news from late last week.

Several hospitals across the region rang in the new year by welcoming their first babies of 2026, with births reported on New Year’s Day in Knox, Daviess, and Warrick counties.

At Good Samaritan Hospital, Johanna Vanessa was the first baby born in 2026. She arrived at 7:08 Thursday morning on the hospital’s obstetrics unit, weighing 8 pounds, 2 ounces, and measuring 21 inches long. Johanna is the child of Brian Berry and Tadala Mukula-Berry of Vincennes and will join two older brothers and a sister at home.

In Daviess County, Daviess Community Hospital welcomed its New Year baby later that evening. Aleah Klaire Wagler was born at 7:45 p.m. on January first, weighing 7 pounds, 11 ounces, and measuring 20 inches long. Her parents are Matthew and Leetta Wagler of Loogootee/

Meanwhile, at The Women’s Hospital at Deaconess, Baby Cochren was born at 1:41 a.m. on New Year’s Day, weighing just under eight pounds, ten ounces. The baby’s parents, Leah and Michael Cochren, reside in Daviess County, with Michael being a native of Pike County. The couple is part of the Christian music group Cochren & Co.
