A Saturday morning police pursuit moved from Washington into Petersburg before ending with a suspect in custody.

Petersburg Police report a sergeant assisted in the pursuit at 8:41 a.m., joining near Rolling Acres and following the suspect along Main Street at speeds exceeding 80 miles per hour.

Police say the suspect vehicle turned into Onyett’s Fabricators, made a loop through the parking lot, and struck the police vehicle while attempting to exit. The vehicle then slid into a snowbank and became stuck.

Officers from the Washington Police Department and the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office took the suspect into custody after a brief struggle. Officers reported the suspect was seen swallowing a baggie during the arrest.

The suspect was identified as Eric Logston, 42. He was transported to the hospital by EMS.

Police say the pursuit began in Washington when officers attempted to serve a warrant and the suspect fled after striking a police vehicle.
